Our client is a leading manufacturer in Dekalb County, Illinois, with a strong reputation for excellence. Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Controls Engineer to join their team. The position is open due to a retirement.
 
The  Senior Controls Engineer is responsible for a wide variety of duties supporting the design and construction of custom automation equipment/systems  for all company divisions .  The Senior Controls Engineer is responsible for construction, assembly, and troubleshooting of automation equipment designed by the Automation Engineers within the team.
  
Responsibilities
 
  • Work as a Team with the Automation Group as an integral part of the design, development and build process of high tech automation equipment.
  • Design, document and build electrical control panels and systems to the latest standards.
  • Specify PLCs, sensors, HMIs, data acquisition, vision systems, robotics and all applicable control components for simple and complex automation equipment.
  • Light Fabrication of parts as required.
  • Perform electrical wiring of Automation equipment as required.
  • Perform part and system testing as required.
  • Coordinate activities with engineering and manufacturing to professionally install and support new equipment moves.
  • Insure quality of all parts produced in assigned work area.
  • Attain safety, quality and productivity goals.
  • Complete correspondence, documentation and reports as required.
  • Maintain safety and good housekeeping practices and lead by example.
  • Read, follow and become familiar with all details and work instructions.
  • Participate in Continual Improvement activities.
  • Adhere to customer requirements, Business Operating System and company policies.
  • Support and training at customers sites.
Qualifications
  • Engineering degree required
  • PLC, HMI programming and troubleshooting
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in automation equipment controls or related experience.
  • Fabrication and machining experience (Machine shop or Tool Room experience is a plus).
  • Experience in control panel design, layout, and assembly.
  • Ability to wire controls for machines
  • Some travel required.
