This is your opportunity to work as a technical lead on software changes and automation projects regarding packaging lines as well as water/wastewater and powerhouse areas. Lead the implementation of automation solutions at the plant along with helping to maintain and enhance existing machine controls. Utilize your knowledge of packaging and automation programming to optimize their control strategies. Help prepare this plant for the future!

This Sr. Packaging Automation Engineer role will also involve...
  • ​centralizing the PLC/HMI data collection along with the alarms, operator actions and process data.
  • optimizing the PLC/HMI network by establishing Server-Client based HMI architecture and domain based user logins.
  • developing and executing a replacement strategy for PLC/HMI platforms approaching obsolescence.
  • building trust with others and working closely with the packaging automation technicians to give direction and help with establishing priorities.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering preferred with 5-10+ years experience within a Food, Nutrition, or Pharmaceutical company or 15+ years experience in industrial automation in the same industries listed above.
  • Previous packaging experience.
  • Deep understanding of and demonstrated configuration experience with Allen-Bradley PLC/HMI platforms, including the PLC-5, SLC, and ControlLogix families of PLCs and the Panelview/Panelview Plus, ME, and SE families of HMIs.
  • Ability to configure FactoryTalk Directory Services.
  • Ability to configure Asset Center.
  • Ability to develop and publish reports using FactoryTalk Historian and FactoryTalk VantagePoint.
  • Experience architecting and installing/implementing an Allen-Bradley PLC/HMI network that includes a server/client relationship for HMIs, domain based user logins,and centralized servers for alarms, operator actions, and process data.
  • Demonstrated ability to configure managed Ethernet switches.
  • Understanding of financial principles, budgeting process, and resource allocation.
  • Excellent communication, leadership and influencing skills. Ability to effectively communicate detailed information to multiple levels of organization from executives to line operators.
  • Windows configuration knowledge, a plus.
  • SQL Server experience, a plus.
